The Pilates Training is mostly taken by Pilates teachers who wish to secure certification as Pilates Instructors so they have credibility to train clients. Pilates certification is categorized into 2 major parts – the Pilates mat certification; and the comprehensive Pilates certification that covers the use of all Pilates equipment. However, there are also different levels of advanced training available for those who are specializing in the rehabilitative and sports aspects of Pilates. At the same time, Pilates training may also refer to the actual one-on-one personal Pilates training, which normally happens in the client’s place. Personal Trainees should be certified Pilates instructors.
There are three levels of Pilates Mat Training: the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Level. Students taking a mat training course study about the structure of the training, the technique, the confidence to lead a dynamic and fun class or sessions for individual and group clients. The mat workout is the basic of all Pilates workouts thus understanding the significance of the foundation of the training, the physical requirement for mat work , and how diverse it is from using Pilates equipments is essential in taking written tests and actual Pilates teaching demonstration when applying for certification. Clients undergoing personal training with Pilates instructors can expect to learn all mat exercises like The Hundred, the Roll-Up, One-Leg Circle, One-Leg Stretch, Single Straight-Leg Stretch, Spine Stretch, and many more.
The Comprehensive Pilates Certification is more elaborate compared to the mat work as this uses equipment. Most students who are applying for this certification are required to complete at least one year of Pilates training that may include private lessons. They will also be required to undertake a basic study in anatomy, physiology, and the history of Pilates – the founder, the evolution, the method and the in-depth instruction on how Pilates equipments are used. Certified Comprehensive Pilates Trainers are guaranteed to effectively train clients on how they can safely maximize the benefits of Pilates training using equipments.
