Do them both in conjunction! Both are complementary but not the same and this is the benefit of adapting the two in ones fitness regime.
The nature of techniques of Pilates makes it easy to complement with the physical stage of yoga. Get the stretch from yoga and maintain it with Pilates. Strengthen your abdominals on the Reformer and watch yoga poses improve. Use the breathing techniques of Pilates to hold muscular contraction and meditative aspect of yoga in your daily routine and feel the stress of everyday life begin to dissipate. Both techniques are time-proven, established, and with the help of an experienced instructor, one can surely reach the desired goals.

Question by Rachel: Is it better to do Pilates when your muscles are cold or warmed up?
I have heard that stretching when your muscles are cold is bad because it simulates muscle pulls. However, if I do Pilates after a cardio work-out, I can’t do the moves as well because my muscles are contracted. Thanks!
